Now

This ‘Now’ Page was last updated on October 27, 2025.

The purpose of this ‘NOW’ page is to provide insight into my vision for Adventure-to-Adventure, where it’s headed, what to expect in the future, and what’s happening on a personal level (see below) since this directly impacts the content of this site. (For more information on ‘Now’ Pages, check out the following location: http://nownownow.com/about)

My Focus For Adventure-to-Adventure Is:
– Writing articles to inspire people to get outside
– Providing information that other people can use to plan their own adventures
– Penning features people enjoy reading.
– Practicing gratitude enthusiastically

My Article Focus Is:
– Trip reports, with links and details, to allow people to put together their own outings
– Writing about adventure (people, places, activities, etc.)
– Short pieces about people who inspire me by Practicing Maximum Enthusiasm
– The occasional gear review highlighting what I’m using and why I like it (or not)
– Book reviews (I’m an unapologetic bibliophile)
– Upcoming outings.

Upcoming Plans For This Site: I plan to set up an email subscriber system in 2026. When this happens, you will see notes on the website, in articles, and on the Adventure-to-Adventure Facebook page, giving you the option to receive the latest Adventure-to-Adventure story sent straight to your Inbox. People’s email addresses will not be shared or sold.
I have a lot of books on adventure, nature, climbing, etc., and many of them need a new home, so I’m planning a site book giveaway. More details to follow.

Why So Few Articles Lately? I’ve been remiss in writing new articles due to a combination of health issues and my focus on the Baroque Music Festival, Corona del Mar, of which I am the President of the Board of Directors.

Trip Plans: I just returned from Yosemite National Park and Merced National Wildlife Refuge. We have a busy schedule with trips to Banff, Joshua Tree, Palm Springs, and New Zealand in the next three months. Later in 2026, we will return to San Diego County backcountry to complete the Coast to Crest Challenge and, of course, the Baroque Music Festival, Corona del Mar, in June.

No Politics On This Page. I’m distrustful of both parties and disgusted with the level of unthinking partisanship. Civil political discourse is difficult, even among friends, when people don’t understand their own confirmation bias and, worse, don’t understand what confirmation bias means. I have much better things to do with my remaining time on this earth than to descend into that quagmire. However, something I write about the environment, access, oversight, etc., may seem “political” even if that was not my intent. (Read next paragraph.)

On Writing. Thomas Paine wrote, “He who dares not offend cannot be honest.” It is not my intent to offend, but in our current culture, it is almost impossible to say or do anything that someone won’t take issue with or misinterpret, and I will not compromise who I am or what I believe in my writings. (That’s just one reason I don’t have an active ‘X’ account.)
Stephen King provided this advice for writers: “If you expect to succeed as a writer, rudeness should be the second-to-least of your concerns. The least of all should be polite society and what it expects. If you intend to write as truthfully as you can, your days as a member of polite society are numbered, anyway.”

On The Topic Of ‘FREE’: Adventure-to-Adventure is a free site and not connected to any affiliate marketing program. This means I don’t receive any compensation from links in the articles, including the gear reviews. All costs incurred with this site, which are a few, are covered by me.

Social Media: I plan to spend less time on Instagram and Facebook and none on ‘X’. Why? Here are a couple of great articles on social media: You Are Being Remotely Controlled, and You Are the Object of a Secret Extraction Operation. Also, any time spent on social media, watching TV, etc., could be better spent reading, writing, exercising, and hanging out with friends and family. Though I make an exception for Premier League Football (or soccer as it is known in the States).

These are the important items. Stay tuned for updates.
